Easy Chicken Dippers

These simple chicken dippers are crammed with flavour and so tasty we think they beat the ones on offer from Dominos and Pizza Hut




Pizza nights seem to be a more and more common event in the Travelbetter house and while we love a good takeaway it does hurt the bank balance, and travel funds, a bit.

Now, while there are plenty of good pizza options out there for home cooking there isn't a lot to replace those very tasty chicken side dishes.

So, to address this balance I got creative and came up with these easy and tasty Chicken Dippers which we think taste better than the takeaway options.

How to make Chicken Dippers



This recipe makes roughly 10 chicken dippers which is enough for 2-3 people.

Chicken Dipper Ingredients

  1. 2 chicken breasts
  2. 2 slices of bread
  3. 2 tablespoons of Cajun spices
  4. 1 tablespoon of garlic salt / granuales
  5. 3 heaped tablespoons of Flour
  6. 2 eggs

Equipment

Make sure you have the right quipment for making Chicken Dippers.

  1. 1 small blender
  2. 3 small bowls similar in size to these examples
  3. A Sharp knife
  4. A flat baking tray

Method for making homemade chicken dippers

Just follow these simple steps to make Takeaway beatting Chicken Dippers:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees or 180 for fan assisted ovens.
  2. Put the bread in the blender and make course breadcrumbs.
  3. Pour the breadcrumbs into one of the bowls and add the Cajun spice and garlic granules and mix together well.
  4. Put the flour in a separate bowl.
  5. Crack the eggs into a separate bowl and beat.
  6. Slice the chicken breasts into long strips.
  7. Spray a baking sheet with spray oil.
  8. Dip the chicken in the flour, then the egg and finally in the bread crumbs before laying out on the baking tray. Make sure at each stage it is coated well. I prefer to use a fork for this as I tend to get less messy.
  9. Once all the chicken is laid out place in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. During baking you will get a lovely smell of the garlic and Cajun spices.
  11. Serve with you choice of dips. We recommend sweet chilli sauce, bbq sauce and garlic mayonnaise.

Things to consider when making these Chicken Dippers



This is a very simple recipe but these extra tips will make it go that much better.

If you can, lay out the bowls in the order they will be used from left to right with the baking tray at the end. This way it is a simple production line and reduces mess as you transfer. If not in a line then try for a triangle of theee bowls much like pool or snooker balls at the start of a game.

If it is easier then do half the breadcrumb seasoning at a time. I use shallow bowls for this recipe so do half at a time with both the breadcrumbs and the eggs.

From Chicken Dippers to Chicken Nuggets



This recipe was developed from a homemade chicken nugget recipe that Travelbetter Mum developed a few years back for the kids. To make chicken nuggets simply cut the chicken into nugget size pieces and reduce the cooking time by 5 minutes.
