At Travelbetter, we firmly believe that travel—when done well—can be an enriching, restful, and a fun experience for the whole family. But we also know that making this a reality isn’t always easy. At times, it can feel like the travel industry, world events, unpredictable weather, and a host of other challenges are working against you. Especially, when like us, you are a quiet and anxious family.
That’s why, years ago, we created Travelbetter—to share our own family travel experiences while providing useful insights to help others travel better. Our goal was to show that thoughtful, well-planned travel is achievable and beneficial to families.
However, as our family has grown, the world has changed, and so has our understanding of travel, technology, and, most importantly, who we are and what people like us truly need to improve their travel experiences.
Simply seeing others on their adventures doesn’t actually help quiet and anxious people travel better.
In fact, it often make things worse by setting expectations on what, how and where you should travel that doesn’t work for quiet and anxious families.
Especially, in the world of social media where often it is the loudest, most outgoing people, who shine through as IInfluencers and travel experts. But, they are often experts in how they and the travel industry want you to travel. Not what is best for quiet and anxious families which if I’m honest, the travel industry doesn’t give a lot of thought to.
What does make a difference is having easy-to-use tools, along with practical and actionable advice that helps you plan and navigate travel as smoothly as possible and reduce stress for everyone. The sort of travel that we need as a family and aim for now with every adventure.
That’s why ,over the last year we have been shifting the focus of Travelbetter to suit the needs of quiet and anxious families who want get the most from their travel.
Overall, our mission and the purpose of Travelbetter hasn’t changed. It is still dedicated to helping families travel better. But, it has become much more focused to quiet and anxious families and through the delivery of easy to use tools and actionable tips.
We don’t provide lots of stories about our own travels. We will draw on our experience where appropriate but we won’t be writing those showing off style posts with pictures of our smiling kids all looking perfect etc. For starters, we are quiet and anxious and as a result very private, And, as I’ve already said, we don’t believe that helps people like us travel better.
Overall, the purpose of Travelbetter is to provide easy to use tools and actionable tips to help Quiet and Anxious families explore more and worry less.
Who are the Travelbetter Team
We’re a family of five—plus one adventurous dog—who love to travel.
For us, travel isn’t just about big trips; it’s about stepping away from daily routines and making the most of our time together, whether that’s for a few hours or a few weeks.
With backgrounds in science and technology, we naturally love researching, analyzing, and solving problems—something we bring into every stage of our own travel planning and experiences.
By combining our passion for travel with our problem-solving mindset, we created Travelbetter—a resource designed to help UK families travel smarter, easier, and better.
